Conference: Ethics & Integrity in Fashion

On September 24, 2024, The Chamber, in collaboration with our members Forvis Mazars, BTG Advaya, and DS Avocats, organised a conference on Ethics & Integrity in Fashion Navigating Sustainability, Legality & Compliance


The event took place at the DS Avocats office in Paris and it brought together experts to discuss sustainability, legality, and compliance challenges facing the fashion industry.

Coumar Ananda, Vice-President of CCIFI, moderated the session, ensuring productive discussions. The panel featured leading voices in fashion and sustainability:

  • Siham Belhadjt, Partner Sustainability at Forvis Mazars, who offered a comprehensive perspective on how businesses can effectively incorporate sustainability into their corporate practices and emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the fashion industry.

  • Shafaque Ali, Fashion Designer, Founder & Creative Director at SHAFAQUE, shared her personal journey of building a brand that champions sustainability, blending creative innovation with ethical responsibility.

  • Jean-Marie Salva, Senior Partner of Trade & Customs at DS Avocats, provided a detailed exploration of the legal frameworks and compliance measures necessary for global fashion brands to maintain ethical sourcing and production practices.

  • Sarabjit Ghose, Board Member of CIEL Textile and Managing Director at Laguna Clothing, discussed the critical role large manufacturers play in promoting ethical supply chains and responsible business practices.

  • Simone Cipriani, Chairperson of the UN Sustainable Fashion Alliance, Founder of the Ethical Fashion Initiative and Fellow at École des Ponts Business School, highlighted the need for global collaboration and stronger leadership in the fashion industry to enforce ethical and sustainability frameworks, even for SMEs in the supply chain.

  • Pratik Bakshi, Counsel - ESG at BTG Advaya, shared valuable insights into the increasing importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in shaping the future of responsible fashion.


The conference was attended by professionals both in-person and online, fostering an inclusive and meaningful dialogue on how the fashion industry can better navigate the intersection of sustainability, legality, and ethics.
